Fossil records are chronologically ordered histories of the development, or evolution, of life on Earth. Fossil remains and the scientific study of these remains substantiate these records.
There are a few types of evidence for evolution from a commom ancestor. A few major ones include embryology, DNA evidence, biogeography, and morphology.
Biogeography
Embryology
Darwin considered the evidence "by far the strongest single class of facts in favor of" is theory
Evidence depicted the growth of embryos from various classes of vertabrates
Illistrations show that the embryos start out looking virtually identical, but as they develop, their appearences diverge until they take the from of their particular class
To Darwin, similarities in the early embryos indicated that they descended from a common ancestor

DNA Evidence
In many ways, DNA defines us. Thats what makes twins look identical but everyone still unique in their own way. The more closely species are realted on the phylogenetic tree of life, the more closely their DNA sequences will overlap. Certain proteins are needed for even the most basic processes of life, so those selected parts of the sequence that codes for those proteins will be conserved in all species on Earth.
Morphology
Your dog and you share the same foreleg bones down to the metacarpals. That dewclaw on your dog is a vestigial thumb that is reduced for running. Mammals share common ancestry, thus evolved on the bush that is evolution.
